In December 2007, Lewis Hamilton, the 22-year old Formula One Racing superstar, was clocked by French Police doing 123 mph in his £100,000 Mercedes CLK in an 80 mph zone. His car was immediately impounded by the Police, and later he had to pay fines of over £550, and received a one-month suspension of his driving privileges in France. Of course, Lewis did not realize he was driving so fast and issued an apology for doing so. Our guess is that when you are accustomed to getting by at very high speeds on race tracks all over the world it’s very easy to get carried away on public highways.
But a little French controversy cannot put a blemish on Lewis’ track record. He is truly an amazing race car driver and something tells us his finest days are yet to come. If you don’t follow formula one racing, keep your ears open for when next he is driving and make sure you catch him in action. His performance is a must-see. He drives for Team McLaren. And if you ever see Lewis Hamilton in person, show him love and ask him for his autograph. Lewis Hamilton is a dignitary.
