Jeantrix Clothing Company's Trashy Warehouse Fashion Show

The two designers (Deric Crawley and Muhammad Abdul-Basit) at Jeantrix Clothing Company, Philadelphia, PA, bring a rare kind of creativity to fashion. They have the ability to literally create something from nothing, beautifully. On Saturday October 4, 2008, they held a fashion show at a warehouse in Philadelphia, PA, dubbed the Trashy Warehouse Fashion Show. They converted a dusty dirty warehouse into a comfortable suite with a sort of Disturbia (from Rihanna’s music video by the same name) theme to it. Then at show time they gave the audience a special and memorable lesson in creativity. Using clean garbage, and other materials that could be easily found in one’s garbage, they created attractive unique pieces that effectively demonstrated their creativity. We loved every moment of it. Of course, there were other pieces that were not related to the garbage trashy theme.

But the Trashy Warehouse Fashion Show was much more than a plain old fashion show. The designers used the runway to make environmental and social commentaries and to challenge us to rethink everything in order to make our lives and this world a better place. We love what they are doing and we are asking that you show them love and support them.

Runway: Roots Rockin’ Royal Affair

On Saturday September 20, 2008, JamPact, a non-profit organization based in New York City, held a fundraising fashion show, dubbed Roots Rockin’ Royal Royal Affair, at Marcus Hall, Queens, NY. Nine designers made their very creative designs available for this benefit.

The show opened with Jamaican beauty queen and designer Tina Ingram hitting the runway, wearing a piece that was designed specifically for this show and donated by Christ Couture. The other eight designers who took to the runway are: Osun, Softlines, Cooyah Clothing, Riddim Driven, Siren, Chaconia Intimates, The Eye Collection, and Cursiv.

Midway through the show there was a very special performance by Ky-Enie, reggae artiste, who spiced things up with a flavorful blend of conscious music. Everything about this show was special and beautiful. JamPact is an organization that is focused on helping needy children, but we must say that they sure know how to through an awesome fashion show an after party.

Here are the designers in the order they presented:
