It's exactly 25 years today since the compact disc was invented (August 17, 1981). Wow! Time flies. Kudos to Philips and Sony for taking a gamble that has paid off big time. The world relies on the compact disc today in ways that were unimaginable (and perhaps unintended) back in 1981 when it was being brought to life.
