The most recent MAGIC Marketplace (expo) was held from August 31, 2009 – September 2, 2009, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. We were there and it was awesome. For those who don’t know, The MAGIC Marketplace is the preeminent trade event in the international fashion industry, hosting global buyers and sellers of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, footwear, accessories and sourcing resources.
There were so many things to see and do at the expo. There was a surprise tea party, hosted by Disney in the main hall; Ambigram Couture, by J. Seun, and Urban Legend, by Ed Davis were present – both companies are based in Atlanta, GA, and mainly feature men’s and women’s urban wear; Chocolate Bags, a division of Chinese Laundry was present - these bags have been out for about a year and a half…they are decadent, large, lush leather bags; Motorcycles from the Christian Audigier collection; There were several booths featuring Ed Hardy clothing and apparel; Women’s dresses by Esley, beautifully designed, very well put together, great colors, and on the cutting edge; There were random models walking the showroom in designs by different designers; There were graffiti artists; Helping Minds was there – this vendor gives 50% of his profits to people in need locally and globally, such as the Susan G. Komen Foundation that provides help for women with breast cancer; Laguna Beach Jean Co. – men’s denim and sportswear from Southern California…hip, fun, and very California; Girls were riding around advertising Skull Candy headphones…If you stopped by their booth, you could trade in your old headphones for new ones; and there was a tribute to DJ AM, who died recently. Of course, there were many more great and exciting things to see and do at MAGIC.
